A night out in Seoul can be a long one. Drinking and partying is such a staple of Korean culture that bars, cafes, clubs, amusement arcades and restaurants are open until very late. Drinking is rife, particularly to the sound of "Gumbay", our version of cheers. Soju is the local poison, a rice wine traditionally served in shot glasses and downed in one. It's about 20% alcohol and drinking that, or anything else in public is fine.
