India Railways is massive. It's the largest employer in India (some say the world) with around 1.6 million people, and it transports over 5 billion people annually, albeit quite slowly sometimes ! And for the record, the longest railway station name in India is "Venkatanarasimharajuvariapeta" !! It would be fair to say that I don't know how to pronounce this ! Trains here are basic, occasionally reliable, and carry whatever the average Indian has with them, which can even be livestock !! If you get a seat, you'll be surrounded by curious and friendly Indians wanting to chat. That's great, but journeys can be very long.
