This is the eve of Diwali, an Indian festival mostly celebrated by Hindus and Sikhs. This is an Indain market and is more recording the crowds and the shopping required to prepare for the festival. The date moves a bit, but it's almost always in November. Diwali roughly translates as 'rows of lighted lamps', and typically celebrations involve fireworks, gifts (often sweets or nuts), lights on the outside or inside of your house, new clothes and cleaning the home. But this isn't India. This is Singapore, in the Little India District.
