It was an odd day, having had my phone stolen in a market. But in that same market, somebody shouted at me “Hey, white man”. To be honest I thought that it was really very refreshing, but I couldn’t help but think that if you said that out loud in London, you’d be carted off very quickly. But there, he got my attention, and I was indeed the only white person in site. Traditionally, if you want to photograph darker skins, use a flash. Well I don't like that kind of light, and I wanted to concentrate on form and silhouette. So we're here in Ghana, looking at life on the streets, but the photographs share a deliberate darkness !
