So the stuff you know is that he led the Vietnamese communists for over 30 years, and fought against South Vietnam and America, and won ! They renamed Saigon to Ho Chi Minh City when he died, but he's buried in Hanoi, and still adored by the population. But, what you probably didn't know, he was actually born under a different name, and adopted his name, which means "bringer of light". And in his youth, he travelled widely, living briefly in London, Paris, Moscow and New York. On a trip to Ho Chi Minh City, I was simply intrigued by all the references to him, often quite large and public. Here are some of them.
