I get quite emotional about this. This project is all about decay. They're taken in the Chinese Cemetery in Manila, a place that has either huge two storey "house like" tombs with working kitchens and bathrooms for the afterlife, or a small locker for the remains. However, they all share one thing in common. They show a photograph of the deceased at some stage of their life. What for me is interesting, is that I often think that a photograph will last forever, and thus the image of ourselves will be seen by the future inhabitants of this planet. But just like our bodies decay and disappear, so do the photographs. We, on average, will only ever be remembered for two generations. Everything we think and do and feel will mean little, and we will disappear from sight forever.
